実は、英語ページは公開済みである。公開したのは7月2日のことだ。すぐにお知らせしたいと思ったが、できなかった。2日はやっと公開にこぎ着けた（それも夜遅く）満足感から、原稿を書く意欲を無くした。
翌3日は、朝からデバッグに追われた。なにしろジェミニが作った英文である。どこでどんな間違いをジェミニがしでかしているか、しれたものではない。全ての英語原稿に目を通し、主語の間違いなどを見つけ出さねばならない。
ここでご承知おきいただきたいのは、私はバイリンガルに過ぎないことである。バイリンガルとは生まれ故郷の大牟田の方言と、標準語を操ることができるということである、英語は含まれない。
高校英語程度の蓄積しかない私が、ジェミニが書いた翻訳文を点検する。その作業の難しさは、皆様にもご理解いただけると信じる。とにかく、目で追うのはアルファベットばかりなのだ。日本語の文章を読むのに比べ、10倍以上の時間がかかってもお許し願えるはずだ。
というわけで、3日は8本の原稿の点検を終えた。夜は桐生えびす講の飲み会があった。英語ページを公開したことを原稿にする時間などあるはずがない。
そして、まあ、なれてきたのだろう、今日はかなりスムーズに点検作業が進み、こんな結果になった。
・12回の原稿が全く違っていました。ほかの回の翻訳を入れてしまったようです。修正しました。
・13回、「無給で仕事を教えてもらう期間だった」の「仕事」が「trade」になっていたので、「craft」に修正しました。
・14回 「”I have nothing left to learn here,” she declared, and left her job at just nineteen. 」を「”There is nothing left for me to learn here,” she declared, and left her employer at just nineteen.」に変更。
・14回 「 she would sit before a machine and begin to embroider.」を「 she would sit at a machine and begin to embroider.」に変更
・15回 “When I questioned him, he said that a teacher from his brother’s junior high school days had come crying to him, and he had issued the note in exchange for lending them money. He said that if that wasn’t repaid and we didn’t buy back the note, it would impact the company’s management.”

ま、こんな作業を１人、パソコンに向かってやっていたわけである。己に向かって
「ご苦労様！」
と言いたくなる。
こうして、少なくとも私程度の英語力で修正できるところは修正した。まだ大澤さんをミシン職人として書いた3回分は目を通していないが、これは明日の仕事である。
そして、フォントの乱れも気になっている。ある回だけフォントのサイズが違っていたり、途中からフォントサイズが変わるページがあったり、htmlの世界はどうにもなじみにくいのだ。これも明日、ジェミニを叱咤しながら修正するしかないだろう。
しかし、これで私が大澤さんを書いた原稿は、世界の英語ユーザーに、アクセスしていただける条件だけは整った。英語ページへのアクセスも始まった。さてこれから何が何が始まるのだろう？
